I really didn’t know what to expect when going into The Little Black Book by R.K. Gold. Seeing this posted on twitter I neglected to do any real research on the author and the book and ended up purchasing a copy on Amazon. The price was very reasonable so I can’t really complain. This is a pretty quick read I will say. I was able to get through this one in just a couple hours, but I did go back and reread some moments before writing this review. I loved this collection, as short as it is, Gold leads us through a heavily engaging experience. He mixes real world troubles with supernatural elements and gives us characters we can actually feel. I’ve always been a little leary of short story collections because it can be a little difficult to grab onto a character in a short time, but that was not a problem here.I would have liked to see some more depth in the characters relationships with the others in their world. I could tell there was a history with some of the characters, but was not entirely sure on what happened in their past. I also felt that the last two stories could have had slightly better pacing, but they did not suffer entirely. Each story had great twists and unexpected turns that it kept the audience enamoured all the way to the end. Overall this collection was really enjoyable and I’m happy to have made a sporadic purchase when grabbing this one.
I’m planning on watching out for R.K. Gold as I’m interested in seeing what he’ll be doing in the future.

The Little Black Book RK Gold 9780692347966 Books Reviews
This collection of short stories is enjoyable and also a quick read. A Matter of Perspective is my favourite story from this collection. I would love to see this made into a full length book.
Great book!
I really enjoyed this collection of stories. It had enough magic for to escape from the world, and enough humanity to draw me back to it.
The four short stories were very different, which is a refreshing approach to a book of short stories. Each story was enthralling, captivating me until the very end of each story. The author painted a vivid picture, allowing the reader to imagine the setting. It's a great, quick read and I highly recommend it.
So I'm a fan of short stories but I usually don't feel super engaged with them unless it's something from Stephen King or the like. Guess I can group RK Gold in with that group because this was a fantastic read! Not only was the character development done exceptionally but the plot lines were so engaging because they were so different and yet somehow made me think it could actually happen.
Can't wait to see more of this writer.
Also I highly recommend his other work on here over growing childhood. It's definitely more on the bizarre side but great to see the development from the poems to the short stories here
This was a good short book with several short stories, most of which had unexpected plot twists and turns. I give it four stars because I feel there could have been a little more detail in some of them, but other than that the stories are enjoyable, some of them shocking, and all meaningful. I definitely recommend this to people looking for a thrilling read.
